A Tree's Value, Documented and Defended
When a tree's value is at stake — whether through an easement acquisition for a public improvement project, herbicide drift, construction damage, storm casualty, or litigation — the strength of your appraisal determines the outcome.
That's our specialty. Caleb Banister and Chris Martin are ISA Board Certified Master Arborists and the founders of Urban Tree Consultants. Chris also holds the ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist® (RCA) designation — the highest credential a consulting arborist can earn, and the credential most often required by attorneys, public agencies, and insurance professionals when an appraisal must hold up under review.
We work regularly with cities, counties, state agencies, utilities, attorneys, landowners, and insurance professionals— producing tree and landscape appraisals that follow the standards of the Guide for Plant Appraisal (CTLA) and stand up to scrutiny by opposing experts, public-sector reviewers, and courts.
Our Services
We focus on appraisal and assessment work where credentials, methodology, and defensibility matter most.
Tree Appraisals → Trunk Formula, Replacement Cost, and Cost of Cure valuations for residential, commercial, public, and rural properties throughout Oklahoma.
Easement & Right-of-Way Appraisals → Tree appraisals for cities, counties, state agencies, and utilities acquiring easements and rights-of-way for road, drainage, utility, pipeline, and other public improvement projects — including just-compensation valuations and condemnation work.
Herbicide Damage Appraisals → Documentation and valuation of trees damaged by crop duster drift, agricultural overspray, and chemical injury — a fast-growing area of our practice.
Expert Witness Services → Reports, depositions, and trial testimony for attorneys handling tree-related litigation, condemnation proceedings, and insurance disputes.
Construction Damage Appraisals → Pre- and post-construction assessments and damage valuations for trees impacted by development.
Storm & Casualty Loss Appraisals → Documentation of trees lost to storms, fire, vandalism, and other casualty events for insurance and tax purposes.
Why Us?
Top-tier credentials. Both founders are ISA Board Certified Master Arborists — a credential held by a small fraction of certified arborists nationwide. Chris is also an ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA), the highest designation in the consulting arboriculture profession.
Decades of Oklahoma-specific experience. Caleb has spent his career working with Oklahoma trees, including overseeing the trees and grounds at the Oklahoma State Capitol Parks. Chris brings 20+ years of experience managing the trees for Oklahoma State University, residential properties, and utilities.
Defensible methodology. Every appraisal we produce follows the standards of the Guide for Plant Appraisal (CTLA), the methodology recognized by courts, insurers, and the arboricultural profession.
Built for the cases that matter. When a claim is heading toward litigation, mediation, condemnation, or a serious insurance review, the quality of your appraisal report is the foundation of the outcome. Our reports are written from the outset to hold up.
